FLORISSANT, MO (KTVI)-Florissant police have seen an increase in the amount of copper burglaries from unoccupied homes within the city limits. Burglars enter the homes, remove copper piping, and then sell the stolen copper to scrap yards.

Police say the burglars often look to be people who are working on the property. It would be easy for neighbors to see the suspects and think they are seeing utility or constructions crews.

Florissant police are asking the residents to be aware of unoccupied homes in their neighborhoods and to report any suspicious activity as soon as they notice it. You can call them at (314) 831-7000.
