JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KTVI) – The death penalty for Lance Shockley has been upheld by the Missouri Supreme Court.

He was found guilty of murdering Highway Patrol Sergeant Carl Graham Jr. in 2005. Court documents say Shockley had been involved in a fatal crash that Sergeant Graham was investigating. Shockley left the scene of that crash.

An investigation revealed that Shockley later ambushed Graham at his home. He shot him in the back of the head with a shotgun.
