Rabid bat found in St. Louis County

CLAYTON, MO. (KTVI) – The St. Louis County Department of Health’s Animal Care and Control program has confirmed the first case of rabies for the county in 2013.  The bat was found in a home in University City.

So far for the year of 2013, 170 animal specimens have been sent off for testing for rabies and only one has come back positive.

St. Louis county officials urge all residents who have come into contact with dead or alive bats, to call the health department.
