(KTVI) -  A fire in a pile of debris is burning at a Bridgeton facility.  Several fire departments were battling the flames.  But they have since left.

It's on Missouri Bottom Road, just north of Interstate 370.  Workers were out early spraying water on the fire. But it doesn't appear to be doing a whole lot of good.

Flames were shooting high in the air early Friday morning. Authorities say the fire started around midnight. The business turns wood into mulch. The area that is burning appears to be full of wood and other debris.

Officials at the fire dispatch center say the fire grew to two alarms with eight different departments responding.  Fire crews battled the flames for about three hours before turning the scene over to the owners of the facility.

No one was been hurt. The cause of the fire is unknown.
