(FOX NEWS) – Vin Diesel turns his night-vision back on as “Riddick” for the 3rd chapter in the action-packed sci-fi series, following the escaped convict’s fight for survival on a nameless planet battling creatures, elements, and bounty hunters. He says this one is for those loyal fans of “Pitch Black” and “Chronicles Of Riddick.”

Diesel says, “It was so interesting to me over the past couple years how many fans that this franchise had accumulated and the fans loyalty to it that as an artist I go – why wouldn’t I want to service or listen to the fans and the audience who’ve asked for the next chapter.”

He takes all the stuntwork seriously for the r-rated adventure, “Less injuries come with more preparation, and less casualties come from more preparation I take it very very serious. I want everyone on the set to be safe.” said Vin Diesel.

Katee Sackhoff also has her share of dangerous fight scenes, it doesn’t matter that she’s the only female squaring off with all these guys.

Sackhoff says ” I’ve had a lot of training and I think if I punched someone in the face it would really hurt.”

Vin Diesel has done his share of franchises but says he only signs back on when he believes there’s a reason for another chapter. “The only reason I’ve ever turned down any sequels the XXX’s and the Fast & Furious’s is because if it ever felt like we were just capitalizing on the brand and not really working to evolve the story and to evolve the characters it was never really attractive to me.” said Vin Diesel.
