St. Louis emerges as tech start-up hub

(KTVI)-There has been lots of national buzz in the past few months over St. Louis's emergence as a hub for high-tech start-ups. The publication IT World ran an article with the headline “How Post-industrial St. Louis Made Itself Into a Start-Up Hot Bed”.  And Dice.com named St. Louis the fastest growing city for tech job openings.

Twitter co-founder and St. Louis native Jack Dorsey was recently in town helping promote local start-ups of all kinds.

Charles Jaco talks with Jim McKelvey, who co-founded Square with Jack Dorsey. Square is a device that attaches to a smart phone and allows small business people to swipe collect credit card information for payment. McKelvey also founded the Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis. His latest project is called Launch Code, which will help computer professionals improve their skills.
