ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– Ballpark Village is hiring. The development next to Busch Stadium plans on filling more than 1,000 jobs, according to Ballpark Village Chief Operating Officer Jim Watry.
Watry said the Ballpark Village Facebook page launched this week. He said one way to express interest in a position would be to send a message through the Facebook page.
Watry said the initial hiring will be for director positions. He said interested applicants could also email him directly at Jim@stlballparkvillage.com
“Sales, marketing, director of operations, we have a facilities director, people who run the overall district,” explained Watry.
He said tenants would likely start their hiring around January 1st, 2014. Ballpark Village is scheduled to open in time for the Cardinals home opener in 2014. Watry said construction is ahead of schedule.
Marquise Thomas wasjobhunting downtown on Tuesday and was thrilled about the possibility of finding work at Ballpark Village.
“I live right up the street so it would be easy access for me to come straight to work every day,” said Thomas.
The final project will include an open courtyard, a retractable roof and seats overlooking into the stadium. The Cardinals will sell tickets for those seats.
Here`s a link to the details on what the development will include.
Downtown resident Tom Fairley is excited about the long-anticipated project nearing completion. He said downtown can be pretty empty when the Cardinals are not playing at Busch Stadium.
“I think it`s going to be much better,” said Fairley.
Another downtown resident expressed frustration over how long the lot across Busch Stadium sat empty.
“At least it`s better than it was,” he said.
Watry said the Ballpark Village website will also soon include more information.
