(KTVI)-- If you`re to take a drive down the end of lonely street past the heartbreak hotel, you might want to do so in style.

"This last year Marilyn Monroe`s dress sold for $5.5 million, so to get an Elvis car for $229,000," says Daniel Schmitt. "I think it`s a bargain."

Maybe a princely sum for an automobile fit for a king, and Daniel Schmitt will sell it to you for $229,000.

"1968 Eldorado, noted as his favorite car," says Schmitt.  "It`s one he actually bought new, but also used on a regular basis."

In `68, the same year as his comeback special, Elvis Aron Presley saw this topaz gold fire mist beauty outside a Memphis dealership and bought it on the spot.

But if you can`t help falling in love with Elvis` automobile, maybe Phyllis Diller`s 1968 Excalibur one is up your alley.

Or, if you`re more a Mod Squad kind of collector, then you might like a Dodge Challenger from the TV show.

"Cars are really an extension of your personality," says Schmitt.

When it came to cars, Elvis the pelvis had a personality bigger than life.

"One morning he came out and the car wouldn`t start, and he pulled out his 45 and his shot the car," says Schmitt.

Apparently the king had a habit of shooting inanimate objects.

"Well you know what?" asks Schmitt.  "This is not the only car that he shot.  He also shot a Pantera that wouldn`t start.  So he had a habit of shooting cars."

Schmitt says the king of rock and roll`s ride has just $16,000 original miles and runs perfectly, with this one minor modification.

So if you have the moolah for a music man`s car, you might turn this ride into your number one...with a bullet.
