Osage County Sheriff charged for sexual misconduct, tampering & assault

ROLLA, MO (KTVI) – Special Prosecuting Attorney John Beger has filed charges against Osage County Sheriff Michael R. Dixon.

Felony Charges

  • Tampering in the First Degree

Misdemeanor Charges

  • Sexual Misconduct in the First Degree
  • Assault in the Third Degree, Harassment and Stalking

The felony charge stems from Dixon operation of an ATV without the permission of the owner, on or about June 26, 2013. That charge carries the penalty of 2 to 7 years in prison and a fine of up to $500.

The misdemeanor sexual misconduct charges is from an incident, were its alleged that Sheriff Dixon touched the genital area of the victim with a flashlight. The harassment and stalking charge is for telephone calls to the victim of sexually suggestive nature; frightening, intimidating or emotionally distressing a person.  The penalty for this under state law, is jail time of up to one year and a fine of up to $1000.

No court date has been set yet for Dixon.

Special Prosecuting Attorney John was appointed by both the Osage and Maries Counties to investigate the allegations.

Sheriff Dixon has been the sheriff of Osage County since January 1, 2013.
