WASHINGTON, DC (KTVI) -  A frustrated President Obama warned Americans of the consequences of a government shutdown on Monday afternoon. At midnight the federal government runs out of money.

This afternoon, the Senate sent a stripped down appropriations bill back to the House.  Over the weekend the house passed a bill that would fund the government through mid-December but would delay the implementation of the Affordable Care Act for one year.

Monday, along party lines, the Senate took out the delay of the Affordable Care Act and sent the bill back to the House. Both Democrats and Republicans are maneuvering to place the blame on the other.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill took to the senate floor today to express her frustration with the process.
