(KTVI)-Benefiting Animals Through Responsibility and Compassion, or BARC, is currently offering individuals with a low-income status the chance to fix their Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix breed dogs for free. The offer is open to residents in both Missouri and Illinois.
BARC was recently awarded $35,000 in grants and can now provide 700 free pet fixes to area residents on government assistance or who make less than $32,000 a year per family. The St. Louis Department of Health is chipping in by offering $10 grocery gift cards to the first 50 individuals that sign up.
All surgeries take place at the agency's Carol House Quick Fix Clinic on Jefferson near I-44 in St. Louis. BARC has fixed over 23,000 pets in the last ten years.
