Police respond to accident scene, find man shot in the head

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - St. Louis Police get more than they bargained for after responding to a car crash early Monday morning.

They found a 35-year-old man shot inside the car.  Now homicide detectives have been called out on the case.

This happened in the parking lot of the New Northside Family Center.  Police say they got the call for a crash around 2:40 a.m.  There was a Mazda 626.  When crews arrived on the scene they found the man in the car. As EMS crews rushed him to the hospital, he told them that he had been shot.

The man was shot in the head. The man was taken into surgery. He is listed in critical/stable condition.

The back window of the car was shot out.  Police are not sure where the actual shooting took place.
