KIRKWOOD, MO (KTVI)-- A group of Missouri veterans returned from Washington, D.C. after visiting the Washington Memorials Tuesday.

The "Honor Flight" included 25 veterans from various wars.

Most of them live in the Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living Home in Kirkwood.

They were greeted by dozens of family members, friends and members of the Patriot Guard.

"They have done so much for us, so we have to support them," Jane Brown said.

They left for Washington, D.C. Tuesday morning.

They feared the government shutdown might impact their trip, but organizers say they were able to visit all of the sites.

However, they did say many bathrooms were closed because of the shutdown.

Despite the inconvenience, the veterans said they "enjoyed every minute" of their trip.
