Boeing puts bid on new generation of bombers to be built in Missouri
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Boeing is teaming up with Lockheed-Martin to try and land a big contract for its defense and security division headquartered in St. Louis.
The Air Force wants a new long-range super-stealthy bomber to augment and maybe replace the B-2 stealth bombers currently stationed at Missouri’s Whiteman air Force Base. The Air Force would like the new generation of bombers to be operational by 2025. Under Friday’s bid Boeing would be the prime contractor.
Everything else about the program, from the number of bombers, costs and where they’d be manufactured, is classified.
