The Fighting Illini battled back from a 14-0 deficit only to lose in overtime 24-17 at Penn State on Saturday afternoon. It’s Illinois’ 18th consecutive Big Ten loss dating back to November of 2011.

Nathan Scheelhaase threw two second half TD passes to Josh Ferguson to give the Illini a 17-14 fourth quarter lead. But Penn State kicked a last minute field goal to send the game to OT. In the overtime, the Nittany Lions scored on their first possession. Meanwhile Scheelhaase’s pass was intercepted by Penn State in the endzone on the Illini’s first offensive play in OT to end the game.

Illinois’ season record falls to 3-5 with the loss.
