ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -  Thousands woke up, still in the dark and facing cleanup projects, after Sunday afternoon’s storms.

Drivers on Rock Hill Road dodged what looked like piles of firewood and twigs Monday morning.  Neighbors said high winds hit Webster Groves and took a huge branch from a tree with it.  The tree blocked the road.  Many residents lost power.

Ameren Missouri technicians restored power for most neighbors overnight.  Workers cut up the tree and reopened Rock Hill Road Sunday evening.  But, huge branches sat in the front yards early Monday morning.

Chris Walker was in his mother’s home on Cool Papa Bell Avenue in North St. Louis.  The winds peeled off the roof.  Walker’s small sons -- ages four, seven and nine – had to outrun the bricks that fell inside.  But, no one was hurt.
