Fatal wrong-way accident closes I-44 westbound at Bowles

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – One person is dead after a driver went the wrong way on I-44.  The highway is closed at the Bowles exit.

There are several people injured at the scene of the accident.  St. Louis County police confirm that one person is dead because of the accident.

Traffic is backed up on  westbound I-44 as crews work on clearing the accident.

    Yeah I was at the scene of this accident last night.It was fatal.and I don’t think any one actually purpose drove east bound in the west bound lane.it was bad rode conditions here yesterday and as a result I think the car slid around and was facing east bound in the west bound land that’s when the west bound car just ran Right into it doing about 55
