Icy roads cause three early morning accidents

HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) – Icy roads are being blamed for three wrecks Thursday morning.

The first happened along Shreve Avenue and Interstate 70. A car spun out on an icy patch of road and hit a utility pole near the Ameren substation. No one was seriously hurt.

A short time later, a pick-up truck hit a patch of ice and overturned along James S. McDonnell Boulevard and Banshee Road in Hazelwood. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Finally, a driver lost control after hitting a slick patch along westbound I-70 at the Blanchette Bridge. The car hit a guard rail, causing minor injuries to the driver.
