St. Louis County Health Dept. offering free flu shots

BERKELEY, MO (KTVI) - From 12 noon until 4 p.m. Wednesday, St. Louis County residents can get a free flu shot.

These free vaccines started in Pine Lawn on Tuesday and hundreds showed up for a flu shot. Health official say it the best way to protect yourself from the flu and prevent spreading it to others.

What's different this year is who is being impacted. According to reports, 25 to 49 year olds seem to be getting the flu the most.

And over the past few weeks, there's been a real increase in the number of severe flu cases in the, with many people requiring hospitalization.  Several people have even died.

According to St. Louis County Health officials, there have been 849 confirmed cases of the flu since October.  Eleven people have died, two at Mercy Hospital and nine at Barnes-Jewish.

Free flu shots are available at the John C. Murphy Health Center, 6121 North Hanley Road, from noon until 4 p.m.

Then on Thursday, you can also get a flu shot between noon and 4 p.m. at South County Health Center in Sunset Hills, 4580 South Lindbergh.
