ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - The funeral for a little girl who died just days away from her second birthday, was held Saturday afternoon. 23-month-old Jabria Phillips was laid to rest today.

The toddler was found dead in her family's apartment near Dr. Martin Luther King and Goodfellow in North St. Louis early last Tuesday morning.

Investigators charged her step-father Deonte Evans with second degree murder and child abuse.

They say he repeatedly hit the little girl, causing the blunt force trauma that killed her.

The girls mother, Shanika Evan is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

All these children being abused must be being heard clearly by neighbours. It is a difference of ‘cry’ to one being told to go to bed or other light discipline. Neighbours are going to have to ‘step it up’. Reports it to Police immediately, urgently & continuously. I’m tired of often hearing neighbours say they heard it. This is worldwide.
