Native St. Louisan awarded aviator of the year award

(KTVI) – A native St. Louisan and Webster Groves graduate, has been awarded the 2013 Army Aviation Association of America “Michael J. Novosel Aviator of the Year Award”.

Chief Warrant Officer Petersen enlisted into the U.S. Army in January 2004, going through basic training at Fort Knox Kentucky. Following basic training, he attended Warrant Officer Candidate School, and flight school, qualifying as a Boeing Chinook aviator.

Petersen has been deployed twice to Iraq for “Operation Iraqi Freedom”, and to Afghanistan in support of “Operation Enduring Freedom XIII”.  He’s flown over 2000 hours that include 1400 hours in combat.
