NEW TOWN, MO (KTVI)-- More than a dozen felony counts against a former daycare operator and prosecutors say she stole and forged checks while running the childcare center.

Karen Vehlewald, also known as Karen Clark, used to operate Little Town Learning Center in New Town.

She was already a convicted felon when she opened it.

Police say she continued her bad behavior, writing bad checks on daycare checks.

Fox 2 first exposed the suspect and her center last fall.

It shut down a few weeks after our report.

Parents reported that the daycare was taking extra debits from their bank accounts.    One of those parents told Fox 2 that she only recently got her $600 back.

Suspect Vehlewald faces two separate hearings next week at the St. Charles County Courthouse.

Felony conviction doesn’t disqualify daycare worker
