Not even a fifth inning ejection of Matt Carpenter would stop the Cardinals on Monday night in Milwaukee. The Cardinals behind the pitching of Lance Lynn shut out the Brewers 4-0. Lynn pitched seven scoreless inning while striking our 11 Milwaukee batters. Lynn is now 3-0 on the young season. Jhonny Peralta and Jon Jay hit home runs to pace the Cardinals offense. Carpenter was ejected in the fifth inning for arguing a called third strike by plate umpire Bob Davidson, but the Cards didn’t miss a beat without their leadoff hitter.

The win is the Cardinals third straight and raises their season record to 8-5, and two games behind the division leading Brewers. Shelby Miller was face Milwaukee on Tuesday night.
