ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - The Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge will turn 3 months old this week.  Many St. Louis drivers have yet to even take it.

According to MoDOT and IDOT, on an average weekday, 31,000 vehicles travel the new bridge.  The expectation was that 40,000 would.  The most recent estimates came from a mid-April analysis.

MoDOT says truck drivers are having no problem finding the new bridge.  Traffic involving semis dropped by more than 1/3 on the Poplar Street Bridge after the new bridge opened.

More commuters could be pushed to the Stan Musical Veterans Memorial Bridge this month when major work on the PSB gets underway.  Two ramps will be closed and westbound lanes will be resurfaced.  MoDOT is already encouraging drivers to find alternate routes.
