ST. LOUIS (AP) – U.S. Roy Blunt is expressing outrage that the VA has been slow to respond to concerns about mental health treatment for veterans at its St. Louis hospital, but the Republican is not among those urging the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.

Blunt met Wednesday with officials at the St. Louis VA Medical Center. The meeting came about two weeks after the former chief of psychiatry claimed that veterans seeking mental health treatment in St. Louis often wait a month or more because too few patients are seen.

Blunt and his Missouri colleague in the Senate, Democrat Claire McCaskill, sent a letter on May 12 to Shinseki, seeking answers. Blunt says he has received no response.

A message seeking comment from the VA was not returned.

Government Healthcare. If it is good enough for our veterans, the good enough for the people. Long wait lines, denied healthcare and death panels. In government I trust. NOT.

  • Mascoutan

The VA Healthcare system was held up and touted by the Democrats many times as the example of success for government-ran healthcare. The VA system is the example of what ObamaCare will provide once fully implemented. Gives you an all-round warm, fuzzy feeling, doesn’t it?

A shining example of single payer healthcare the liberals USED to talk about.Just another installment of Obozo’s incompetence. Here is how Obozo will handle it: 1) Claim to be mad 2) Launch an investigation 3)Make lame excuses 4) Blame Bush 5) Not do a single thing 6) Stall forever than claim it’s a “phony scandal” .Same formula of failure for 6 years now. Impeach the dog eating disgrace of a president!

“In light of the despicable treatment being given to our veterans by our own government, it is appalling to find out al-Qaida detainees apparently receive far superior treatment at GITMO.”
    (Lt Colonel Allen West)
    Couldn’t agree more Sir!
