Stolen vechicles found after years in Metro East Park

EAST ST. LOUIS, ILLINOIS ( KTVI) An under water training exercise turns into much more for a Metro East Search and Recovery Group . During the training the group discovered stolen vehicles.

Divers from various departments in the Metro East including the O'Fallon Illinois  Underwater Search and Rescue Team where busy training at Fank Holten State Park  when they located three stolen vehicles Tuesday afternoon. "We thought originally we were searching for one vehicle, but found for three vehicles in  one place it's pretty shocking , " said Chris Sauerhage, O'Fallon  Underwater Search and Rescue Team.

"After the unexpected discovery , authorities  went into the lake and examine the vehicles." We arrived on scene and found the dive team looking to make sure nothing was in the vehicles before we pulled them out of the water , " said Randy Brown with Metro Towing.

  Police say the vehicles located included a 1993 Plymouth Voyager that was stolen in 2005 from rural St. Clair County , A 1972 Plymouth four- door sedan stolen in 1983 from East St. Louis , a cooper- colored 1985 Chevrolet Caprice two door.
