Cardinals & Garcia Shut out Blue Jays for 2nd Straight Day

For the second straight day, the Cardinals threw a 5-0 shutout at the Blue Jays on Sunday in Toronto, Canada. Starting pitcher Jaime Garcia threw seven shutout innings to get the victory. Pat Neshek and Trevor Rosenthal then threw one inning each of shutout baseball to insure the team’s 11th shutout of the season.  The Cardinals offense was sparked by home runs from Matt Carpenter and Jhonny Peralta.

The win gives the Cardinals a season record of 33-31. They take Monday off, then open a short two game series in Tampa on Tuesday. The Cardinals return home Friday to begin a ten game home stand.
