Vigil to be held for hit and run victim

GRANITE CITY, IL. (KTVI) – A vigil is being held in Granite City Sunday night for a metro east hit and run victim. 35-year-old Jack Hoppe of Granite City was run over by a vehicle on a county biking and walking trail, sometime between 9:45 pm Thursday night and 6 am Friday morning.

The trail runs north from Victory Drive and is clearly marked no motor vehicles.

Autopsy results show Hoppe was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Friends and family are gathering on the bike trail for a vigil at 8 pm.
