KIRKWOOD, Mo. (AP) _ Missouri already bans texting for young drivers. The city of Kirkwood in St. Louis County is considering taking that a step further _ prohibiting all drivers from texting.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that a bill introduced at a City Council meeting Thursday advanced with unanimous support. It would go beyond the state law that prohibits texting for drivers 21 and younger.

Three other St. Louis County towns _ Florissant, Manchester and St. John _ previously enacted all-age-group bans. Critics say it isn’t government’s job to impose regulations on what takes place inside a car.

Attorneys disagree on whether cities even have the authority to pass local bans.

“Critics say it isn’t government’s job to impose regulations on what takes place inside a car.” Unfortunately, we are surrounded by people that lack even a shred of common sense and are so incredibly ignorant, the need for such laws is overwhelming.
I have often wondered what our driving experiences would be like if we had the option of using paint-ball guns to mark the vehicles of the idiots on the road when they do something stupid. That way, everyone would know to avoid the car with multiple paint-ball splatters…
