MASCOUTAH, Ill. (AP) _ Military aircraft from Scott Air Force base in southwest Illinois will use the adjacent MidAmerica Airport while the air base’s runway is worked on over the next five months.

According to the Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/SXH6Ko), the airport and base in Mascoutah have a joint-use agreement allowing them to use each other’s runways under such circumstances.

The air base’s runway will be closed June 9 through September while drainage is worked on.

The Air Force will pay $20,000 a month to use MidAmerica’s runway.
