ST.LOUIS (KTVI) - PrideFest is underway in downtown St. Louis and Saturday afternoon some same-sex couples took part in a commitment ceremonies.
The couples exchanged vows inside St. Louis city hall rotunda.
Organizers hope the significance of this location shows how welcoming St. Louis is to the LBGT community and how much social progress is being made toward equality.
On Thursday, Mayor Francis Slay issued marriage certificates to four same-sex couples who were married in city hall.
But for now, same-sex marriages are on hold until the legal issues of the state's ban can be hashed out.
