SALEM, NJ (CNN) – A New Jersey woman is recovering after a brutal attack by a former coworker.

That disturbing fight was caught on tape and shows her young son as the only person

Who comes to her rescue?

We want to warn you that this video may be difficult to watch.

Cleve Bryan has the details.

It was a brutal beating Salem police pulled from YouTube – this is the result.

Catherine Ferreira suffered a broken nose and concussion as well as extensive bruises and cuts to her face.

Catherine Ferreira, Assault Victim: “I could have been dead right now, had she hit me in the right spot it would have been over”.

Ferreira says she used to work at McDonald’s with the suspect who police have identified as 25-year-old Latia Harris. She says the fight started over workplace gossip which she admits she took part in but never imagined it would go so far.

Catherine Ferreira, Assault Victim: “This is not good for anybody, you don’t look good. I definitely don’t look good, it doesn’t look good”.

In the video a group of what appears to be teens or pre-teens stand by gawking while Ferreira’s 2 year-old son Xzavion is the only one trying to intervene.

Catherine Ferreira, Assault Victim: “After that I became so much closer to my son because he didn’t care what was going on. He wasn’t afraid, he just wanted to defend his mom, so that’s my world right there, I love that boy so much.”

Police will charge Harris with aggravated assault and making threats against the victim and her son.

“You better get your son or I’m going to kick him in the face.”

Ferreira studies biology at the Salem County Community College and hopes her injuries won’t interfere.

Catherine Ferreira, Assault Victim: “I have a dream and right now it’s just a dream but I have a dream to become a surgeon.”

McDonald’s franchise owner Jim Burglaga confirms that the video shows one of his employees.

He says that he’s cooperating with police and that worker will not be serving customers pending the police investigation.

This is how our society is becoming and it is a shame. I hope this angry whale will be sentenced to at least 10 years in a penitentiary when caught!

This was a hate crime, but no one will dare call it that because Sharpton, Jackson, and Holder have to say it’s ok to call it that.

This nation has become a nation of chickens. Scarred to do anything. people are teaching our kids to be afraid rather then doing the right thing and help.

They didn’t look scared. They were enjoying it. Sickening. Disgusting. I hope they catch that piece of dung and give her the punishment she deserves.

in todays world our courts would sentence a person who try to help , good example is the nanny who was fired and the person who was fired cant be removed for the home unless the person is taken to court

I hope they plan to bring charges the child was in danger as well so there had better be charges that they endangered
the child and the woman who was doing the beating should be also be charged with hate crime beyond the assault.
She had better at least get 10 years, sorry Islam kind of works here kinda disabling this ladies arm via surgery so
she can lift maybe 5 pounds and needs physical therapy over a year to repair it would fix her defective brain being
in jail with one arm your looking for peace or maybe 30 minutes in the ring with Mike Tyson.
