KIRKWOOD, MO (KTVI) – There won’t be anymore texting and driving in Kirkwood.  A bill to ban the action was unanimously passed by the city council Thursday.  Under the measure, drivers of any age caught texting behind the wheel would face a fine up to $1,000.00 or  up to six months in jail.  The measure goes beyond Missouri state law , which only bans texting and driving for those 21 and younger.  Florissant, Manchester and St. John already have similar bans in place.

The state of Illinois also bans the use of handheld phones for all drivers.
