Van Nuys, CA (KTLA) – A man who led a short pursuit after avoiding a DUI checkpoint barricaded himself in a Van Nuys apartment Tuesday morning.

Two men and a female in a dark colored pickup truck fled the Los Angeles Police Department checkpoint around 2 a.m., police at the scene said.

During a short pursuit that ended when the truck was left in a Coin Laundry parking lot about half a mile away, an LAPD vehicle crashed into a median in the street.

The male and female passengers were apprehended, but the driver barricaded himself in an apartment.

Police K-9 units and tactical teams were working to extricate the man.
