FARMINGTON, MN – What started as a little boy’s love for tomatoes bloomed into a beautiful friendship. One day, 2-year-old Emmett noticed tomatoes growing in 89-year-old Erling’s yard. As a curious little toddler, he had to run next door to inspect the World War II veteran’s garden, KARE 11 reports.

As the two bonded over tomatoes, their friendship grew. Emmett likes to ride his motorized tractor while Erling races beside him in his lawn mower. They also enjoy playing croquet and riding their bikes down the street together.

Though Emmett is moving out of the neighborhood and Erling is moving into senior living, the unlikely friendship remains inseparable.
