LITCHFIELD, IL (KTVI) - A fire ripped through a Litchfield, Illinois home Monday morning while authorities tried to arrest suspects involved in an armed robbery.
According to authorities, the fire was set to distract police but it didn’t work. In the end, several guns were found and seven people were arrested.
This began as an armed robbery investigation. On Saturday, three people claimed they were trying to buy a car while at a home on Washington Road when were robbed at gun point. Several shots were fired. The four suspects got away with $1,000 cash and other items.
An investigation revealed that the men who were robbed and called 911 were selling drugs. Police were able to identify one of the suspects, Lloyd R. Perkins, 49.
On Sunday, they arrested three suspects at the Washington Road home, Truman M. Seago, 50, April R. Barnes, 46, and Brittany R. White, 24. Evidence for the home led to other search warrants, including one for a home at 719 W. Corwin
As police arrived at the Corwin Street home late Sunday into early Monday, someone inside started the house on fire. Four subjects exited the burning house and two were arrested. Lloyd Perkins was arrested for armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Meghan M. Finley, 29, was arrested on an unrelated charge.
The Litchfield Fire Department put out the fire.
Two other suspects were arrested at other locations.
Bonds for the suspects range from $300,000 to $500,000.
