PEORIA, Ill. (AP) _ The trial of a former Baptist missionary from Peoria charged with the Valentine’s Day shooting death of his wife is expected to begin.

According to the Journal Star in Peoria, Jury selection was expected to start Monday in trial of Nathan Leuthold. His wife, 39-year-old Denise Leuthold, was shot to death on Feb. 14, 2013.

Police believe Nathan Leuthold staged a burglary and killed his wife. He is expected to testify he came home and found his wife dead.

But police say Denise Leuthold wrote in a note that she believed her husband wanted her dead and was having an affair with a Lithuanian woman.

The Leutholds traveled to Lithuania over 15 years to work as missionaries.

That Lithuanian woman is a Chicago student. She has denied the affair.
