Washington Town & Country Fair – August 6-10, 2014

Family friendly shows and entertainment all day, every day!

At the Washington Town & Country Fair, all of your entertainment is included in the cost of admission, which remains a great bargain! Of course, fair fans of all ages flock to the midway for their favorite rides, but did you know there is a jam-packed schedule of stage shows, strolling exhibitors, and hands-on activities as well? The Family Fun Center is the main hub of activity for the young and young-at-heart, featuring a free play area with giant versions of classic board games, and over twenty contests. The Family Fun Center also hosts a number of stage shows, including performances by Babaloo, Sheltered Reality, Ronald McDonald, and local dance and martial arts teams. New additions for 2014 include a mime performance, caricature artist, Mad Science show, an interactive display from the Magic House, and slime-making! And don’t miss Lollypop the Balloon Artist or the Bubble Bus – they are real crowd pleasers! As if that weren’t enough, an inflatable bungee run and children’s crawl castle will be set up on Wednesday, and a Euro bungee will be available Sunday afternoon!

A short walk from the family fun center, you can watch two of the world’s most talented pigs, Mudslinger and Digger, in the Top Hogs show! They perform twice daily on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and have three shows Saturday and Sunday. You’ll watch Mudslinger answer fan mail and take out the trash, and be amazed at Digger’s impressions on Elvis Presley and Stevie Wonder. The 30-minute show is sure to have people laughing and cheering. Next to the Top Hogs Show is the Robinson Carving Company display, where chainsaw carvers create beautiful sculptures four times a day. Wednesday and Thursday, kids have a chance to get up close and personal with a variety of large toys – big rigs, construction equipment, farm implements, emergency vehicles, and even a helicopter – at Mighty Machine Adventures. If you are looking for something you haven’t seen before, look no further than HeritageLand… Glassblowers Gary and Lance from Astral Glass Studio and Gallery will be on site, creating amazing glassworks like ornaments, vases, and sculptures right in front of your eyes! Next door, you can observe a sock knitter, natural fiber basket weaver, and broom-maker demonstrating their trades. Last but not least is Agriland where the farm comes to life! With a petting zoo, bird exhibit, grain playboxes, combine cab simulator, and My American Farm interactive computer program, you can easily spend an hour in Agriland… and there is plenty of seating for parents to relax until the kids are ready to move on to the next adventure!

After a day at the fair enjoying all of the entertainment, you may be tempted to head home early, but you will definitely want to stick around for the headline acts at the Motorsports Arena and Main Stage. Bull Riding, Monster Trucks, Truck & Tractor Pulls, UTV Racing, and Stadium Motocross fill the Motorsports Arena August 6-10 and Main Stage Concerts include Matthew West, Easton Corbin, 3 Doors Down, Trace Adkins, and David Nail. And yes… that’s included in your admission too! There’s a lot to take in, so visit www.washmofair.com to view an interactive schedule and plan your trip to Washington, MO. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance gates to the fairgrounds.

They also have a very special section for families who think their families are more important than anybody else’s family! And that’s what family is all about, right?

There’s a VERY special section for families who inherited everything they have from their family, and you can compare to other families to see who’s family got the biggest handout! And there will be advice for families on how to minimize the income taxes on your family handout, to avoid paying too much taxes to support all those lazy people who just won’t work for a living!
