SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) _ Federal agencies are investigating after a pipe bomb was found outside a downtown Springfield restaurant.

A Secretary of State Police bomb squad on Monday evening used a high-powered water cannon to safely disable the 7-inch-long pipe filled with explosives. Springfield Police Deputy Chief Dan Mounce said Tuesday that police have no suspects or motive. The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives collected samples of soil and debris left after the bomb was dismantled.

Authorities say the bomb had caps on both ends, was about an inch in diameter and weighed about three-quarters of a pound.

Officials say they’re reviewing surveillance video from the area.
