Ag thefts on the rise in southeast Missouri

NEW MADRID, Mo. (AP) _ Authorities in southeast Missouri say thieves are increasingly targeting farms.

KFVS-TV reports that batteries were stolen Friday from irrigation equipment in the Gideon area. The farmer was able to snap a photo of the suspect vehicle, and an investigation continues.

New Madrid (MAD’-rihd) County deputies say there have been several other thefts on agricultural land in recent weeks.
