COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – The World’s Largest Catsup Bottle has been receiving quite the attention lately. Despite Oscar Mayer’s offer to buy the giant condiment, the attraction has yet to be sold. In the meantime, the animal rights group, PETA, wants to put a “saucy” ad on the catsup bottle.

According to PETA, its offer would help the owner, Larry Eckert, with covering the costs of the World’s Largest Catsup Bottle until he sells it. The ad would feature a woman in a lettuce bikini suggesting that passersby check out the PETA website for vegan recipes.

Mike Gassmann, Big Tomato at the World’s Largest Catsup Bottle, Inc. wrote us to comment on PETA’s proposed ad, “We love our animals. We love our veggies. But we would never advocate painting over the Catsup Bottle. I need a little more time to DIGEST all of this before I comment further.”

PETA also included a mock-up of the ad, shown below, for Eckert’s consideration.

Peta using the catsup bottle for thier agenda would be a terrible idea. It would make Collinsville, Il. a laughing stock and bring negative publicity to this city.

For every legitimate REAL thing that PETA brings up, their clown act causes their message to get lost. They have no credibility, no real authority and no usefulness in any debate as they are more interested in the cameras than in actually providing anything substantive. So I put them on the same level as Westboro Baptist Church.

Sure I like catsup on my cheeseburger with a little lettuce too. I am all for the People for Eating of Tasty Animals…
