CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) _ Cape Girardeau police say charges won’t be filed against a police officer accused of getting into a fight with two people outside a restaurant.

Police department spokesman Darin Hickey says an outside agency investigated and found that no criminal charges would be filed against the officer, who hasn’t been identified. Hickey said Friday that the two other people involved also won’t be charged.

The Southeast Missourian reports (http://bit.ly/1kUlGvf) that the officer had been on administrative leave while authorities investigated the July 15 fight. Hickey says the officer was off-duty at the time.

Hickey says police also won’t release information about any internal disciplinary action that might have been taken against the officer, who still works for the department.
