(STLMoms)- With more than 65 percent of parents working full-time, millions of children return home from school to an empty house or have to be on their own between the hours of 3 & 6 pm.

These are known as the "critical hours." This is the time of day when young people are most likely to commit crimes or become a victim of crime.

What should you do as a parent?

Darlene Sowell, President and CEO of Neighborhood Houses tells us more.  Neighborhood Houses is the largest provider of after school programs in the St. Louis Public Schools System.

Darlene explains the importance and benefits of after school programming at her organization.
