Traditional Mulled Cider (Non-alcohol)
1 quart apple cider or apple juice
½ container (=1.5 ounce) package of Mulling Spices (combination of Cinnamon stick, Orange Peel, Whole Cloves, Allspice
Add apple liquid to stovetop pan. Add mulling spices in to liquid (you will need to strain them out before serving) or add in a cheesecloth bundle or spice bag. Simmer for 1 hour to allow the spices to release their flavors. Serve in a mug with a cinnamon stick stirrer.
Adult Vanilla Mulled Cider
1 quart apple cider
1 vanilla bean, split
2 tbl brown sugar
1 nutmeg seed
1 cup bourbon
Simmer all ingredients except bourbon in a saucepan for 1 hour. Move pan off away from the heat and remove the bean and seed. Add bourbon and stir. Serve in mugs with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
