ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -  A couple of wet days means a schedule change for Friday Night Lights and other games around the area.

Webster Groves called up Kirkwood and asked to use their football field at 1pm Friday.  You wouldn't believe how much it costs to rent out a turf field at the high school level.  It costs anywhere from $700,000 to one million dollars to install a turf field..

So, paying $1,000 to rent a turf field isn't such a bad price.  That is compared to repairing or re-sodding a natural field which could cost over $10,000, according to Athletic Director Jerry Collins.

In his ten years as Webster's Athletic Director Collins only had to rent out a turf field three times. Two varsity football games in the same season, 6 years ago, because it was a wet season like this one.

According to Chief Meteorologist Dave Murray we've had one of the wettest starts to October in a while. So, at 1pm Friday Webster didn't want to chance "harsh field conditions." They gave Kirkwood a call to help out.   When i asked about installing a turf field for Webster Groves he said the possibility is in the works, but it's a touchy subject.

Webster is four-and-one so far this season.  They are looking to have a sell out crowd Friday night. They may not have the turnout they once thought because of the rain and filed change
