FERGUSON, MO (KTVI)-The "I Love Ferguson" committee celebrated its storefront opening on south Florissant Avenue Friday. The store sells t-shirts and yard signs to raise money for businesses looted in the aftermath of the Aug. 9 shooting of Michael Brown, 18, by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson.
The grassroots group has been raising money to support businesses impacted by the Ferguson unrest. Group members had been meeting out of a room at the corner coffee house, but on Friday they moved into a space of their own.
To celebrate the opening, “I Love Ferguson" gave the Reinvest North County Fund a check for $5,000 to help other area businesses.
