Dent County Suspects

SALEM, MO (KTVI) – A woman and her boyfriend are behind bars after authorities arrested them on meth and child abuse charges.

On Wednesday, Dent County Sheriff’s deputies  and DFS investigators found a 9-year-old girl home alone in Salem, Missouri.  The child told police she hadn’t seen her mother since Monday.

Police say Heather Belcher, 29, did eventually return home. While police served a search warrant, they found Belcher’s boyfriend, 18-year-old Chase Sapaugh, hiding in the home.

Authorities also found numerous items that tested positive for meth and other paraphernalia.

Belcher and Sapaugh were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Both are being held in the Dent County Jail on $20,000 cash bonds.
