The top area law enforcement team say they are a unified command. The say criminal activity will not be tolerated. The officers say that demonstrators first amendment rights will be protected and that their officers will work to ensure their safety.
They opened up about the dangers and threats made to police officers and their families while on the front lines. Captain Johnson talked about his work to try and gain young teenage trust but going to schools out of uniform and the work his department is doing to try and mend bridges with the public.
Chief Belmar talked about the need to keep all areas of the public safe, from businesses to schools and innocent civilian. Chief Sam Dotson talked about how important it was to move forward after what has happened in Ferguson and to try and mend a community torn apart after the death of Michael Brown.
