(KTVI)- Competition for holiday dollars has pushed many retailers to offer deals before Thanksgiving or on the holiday itself. In addition to the Black Friday deals, the Monday after Thanksgiving known as Cyber Monday is also a big holiday shopping day.

Chris Thetford with the Better Business Bureau gives us some holiday shopping advice.

Black Friday shopping advice:

  1. Protect your personal information
  2. Check the site's security settings and privacy policy
  3. Know the company's refund and return policies
  4. Do not rely on pictures of a product
  5. Be cautious of free or very low prices offers
  6. Pay with a credit card
  7. Obtain a tracking number for shipments
  8. Be awear of phishing

Cyber Monday shopping advice:

  1. Protect your computer
  2. Check a site's security settings
  3. Shop trustworthy websites
  4. Protect personal information
  5. Beware of too good to be true deals
  6. Beware of phishing
  7. Pay with a credit card
  8. Keep documentation of your order
