2 officers hurt in Vegas police helicopter crash

LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Two police officers are hospitalized after a Las Vegas police helicopter crashed on a residential street northeast of downtown.

Police Officer Laura Meltzer says the crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The two officers were taken to University Medical Center.

The Federal Aviation Administration reports that the injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Police say there are no reports that anyone on the ground was hurt.

The FAA says the helicopter was a Hughes 530. It’s one of five helicopters operated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Neighbors posted photos of the aircraft tilted on its side in the street.
